How to create your own Board Game
I had so much fun creating my own board game Basketball Chess, here’s how you can make and sell your own board game!
Think about what you want your game to be: Do you want it to play like monopoly where you have to purchase properties and raise money? Do you want it to be like Chess where you move different pieces around a board? Do you want to use dice, cards, pen and paper, or a bit of everything?
Think about the theme for your board game: Do you want the game to be about trains like Ticket to Ride? A racing game like Formula D?
Think about the mechanics for your game: How will you win? How do you move around the board, with dice rolls or with cards like the game “Sorry!”
Once you get your game’s theme and mechanics solidified, you need to play test your game and figure out what works and what doesn’t work: You can test your game yourself, but it is ideal to have other people come and play the game with you and offer some thoughts and suggestions about what they like and dislike. You can take the feedback from multiple people and use that to refine your game.
Once you get your game the way you like it to be, you can focus on the artwork of your game. Think of what you want it to look like on a Game Shelf as well as the message it will convey when someone picks it up for the first time.
Create instructions: You want your instructions to be relatively simple to understand. Go into extreme detail explaining all aspects of your game. You can easy give hints, tips and tricks to playing a good game!

Once your game is complete, share it with the world: Put it on social media, create a website, tell your friends to play! You can sell it on Ebay, Etsy, etc.
