  1. Intellivision

The oldest Console on my list, I love this quirky console so so much! From the remote style controller to the stickman like character logo dude, this is the oldest console that I actually enjoy playing. There are so many innovative features that the Intellivision had for its time, such as voice audio in B-17 bomber, 3D effects in Hover Force, and real time strategy in Utopia. My 5 favorite games for this system are Motocross, NBA super pro Basketball, Auto racing, Snafu, and Sea Battle.

  1. PS2

I like this console mostly for two reasons: Retro Compilations and Sports games! From NFL2K5 (on the top of my list of games to play, I've played ESPN NFL Football 2K4 with Warren Sapp on the cover and that game was great, looking forward to playing this), Madden 06, and NBA Street Vol. 2, some of the best sports games of all time  run the best are on this system. The PS2 is also backwards compatible with PS1 games, and has dozens of retro compilations such as the Midway Arcade Treasures, Intellivision Lives! Collection, and Activision Anthology. I haven't played that many games on the PS2, but I do hope to play Pac man World 2 and 3, as well as Pac-Man World Rally at some point.

  1. NES

The console that brought gaming back after the Atari crash had such a variety of games! Simple games like Bomberman and Lode Runner, the platformer that revolutionized the genre in Super Mario Bros, and almost all of the popular Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, etc.) got their start on the NES. They also have lots of arcade conversions of games like Digdug, Xevious,  Gradius, etc. that made the console extremely  popular. The NES was the first console that I emulated, and I my favorite games on the system include Desert Commander, Super Tecmo Bowl, and 1942. What kinda sucks about the NES is that pretty much all the basketball games for the system are pretty rough…I guess Tecmo NBA Basketball isn’t that bad.

  1. Wii U

The first console that I bought with my own money (and technically isn't a retro console yet) has a special place in my heart. The Wii U essentially took the Wii and what made it popular (easy accessibility to non-gamers, motion controls, and the best user-interface/menu of All Time) and took it to the next level with experimentation and innovation. With 4 siblings, I was overjoyed when the Wii U  could play 5-player games (Nintendo Land was great) as well as Super Smash Bros being able to play 8 players at one time. If the Wii U was never created, the Wii would be on this list, but because the Wii U can play pretty much the entire Wii Library, with Wii Ware, the Eshop, and the creation of the virtual console it far surpasses the Wii in my opinion. The Wii U's virtual console introduced me to so many retro consoles like the PC Engine, and one of my favorite memories was charting the entire map of the world in Uncharted Waters: New Horizons (SNES) on vacation one night. Drift Mania (The Best Wiiware game of all time imo) is an up to 8 player racing game (4 wii remotes and 4 nunchucks) and provided lots of simple racing entertainment. Creating custom hot routes in Madden 09 and in Madden 13 was so satisfying when using the wii remote, and even flicking the remote or using the "point and pass" system just made so much sense. Going back to the Wii U's virtual Console, I really found out about the Advance wars franchise and played and completed the 2 entries to the GBA as well as the Dual Strike game on the Wii U.  Oh and I can't forget about the Miiverse and Mii creation, the Miiverse will be the best social media site of all time, feel free to debate that with me!

  1. Sega Genesis

I always come back to this console, and it has everything I would ever want in a retro gaming system.

Madden 95 is my personal favorite Football Game (Honestly my favorite football game on any console) on the Sega Genesis, but I enjoy all of the Maddens on the system (Madden 96 is technically the best Madden on the system, but I'm biased with Madden 95). From NHL 94, NBA Live 96, even the PGA tour golf games and MLB Baseball games aren't that bad! I played lots of games in the Sega Genesis, and The original Sonic is my favorite platformer of all time all the sonic games are good), I enjoy the strategy games in the shining force series, and even obscure games like Pac-attack and Pacman-2 (I bought the complete box of Pac-Man 2 for under $10 off Ebay and completed it while I was in highschool) And the racing games on the system are pretty good with the Road Rash series and Outrun 2019 too.

Let me know some of your favorite game consoles!
